Since the glorious comeback began earlier this year, Turnpike Troubadours have stuck to a relatively similar setlist.
Playing many of their biggest hits, some fan favorites, and even a new one titled “Cat In The Rain,” it’s been amazing to watch Turnpike just continue to get better and better since their first show back together in April, at the iconic Cain’s Ballroom.
However, last night, they went a little off-script.
“Call A Spade A Spade” was released in May of 2012 on Turnpike’s third studio album, Goodbye Normal Street. The studio version featured guest vocals from the great Jamie Lin Wilson, so it’s only right to bring her out when you’re playing a show with her in attendance.
And that’s exactly what they did.
Wrapping up a three-show stint at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas, Turnpike brought out the D’Hanis native for a special performance of “Call A Spade A Spade,” a song that hasn’t frequented the setlist this year.
That’s country damn music right there.
And the studio version:
The fellas are staying busy to finish up there year with shows this month in Georgia, North Carolina, before heading over to South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama next month.
The fellas will head back to their home state of Oklahoma on November 12th before rounding out the year in Las Vegas in December.
