Man trapped, killed in two-car Chatsworth crash

California

CHATSWORTH — A man was killed Thursday morning in a two-car crash at Winnetka Avenua and Nordhoff Street in Chatsworth.

The collision occurred about 6:05 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash sent one vehicle — a Honda Fit — through a wrought-iron fence and into the yard of a home on the corner, trapping a male driver.

Despite a quick response to the scene by LA firefighters, who used power tools to extricate the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene, LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The driver of the other car sustained only minor injuries, declined transportation to the hospital and remained at the scene, Humphrey said.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office was called to transport the body of the man, who’s identity has not yet been released. He was described by the LAFD as being in his 20s.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division was investigating the crash.
