Marcus King & Blackberry Smoke Rock The Ryman With Performance Of “Take The Highway”

Music

These boys know how to rock.

It is no secret that I love me some Marcus King and  Blackberry Smoke. Now, put them together on one stage, and I’m kicking myself that I missed this performance.

A week ago, Marcus King made a surprise appearance during the Blackberry Smoke show at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Something it seems King (and many other artists) like to do when they’re home in Nashville.

Lucky for these fans, the duo took the stage to cover Marshall Tucker Band’s “Take The Highway,” a true classic that Blackberry Smoke covers quite often.

Check out their version for Capricorn Sound Studios.

Back to the Ryman…

The fan-filmed video starts as the first chorus kicks in, and King steps in to help with some backup harmonies before taking the second verse.

The highlight of this performance is the absolute jam session they have during the bridge. I mean, these boys can PLAY.

It is a treat to watch either artist play individually, but together, it is unleashed talent.

I would love to see them hit the studio together one of these days.
