Man, Charles Wesley Godwin is on a tear.
The West Virginia native has skyrocketed over the past couple years, thanks in part to his 2021 How the Mighty Fall album, which was our Album of the Year here at Whiskey Riff.
And with the fame CWG has received from that album alone, the guy is packing out venue after venue, and even played two sold out shows at Amos Southend in Charlotte, North Carolina, making him the first artist to sell out back to back nights at the venue since 2005.
And on top of that, the man dropped a stellar five song live EP a couple of weeks back, Live From The Church.
The project was recorded live at The Church Recording Studio, originally Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which was transformed into a full blown recording studio.
The EP features three of CWG’s own songs, “Lyin’ Low,” “Jesse,” and “Temporary Town,” along with a sweet rendition of Zach Bryan’s “Crooked Teeth,” and Chris Knight’s “The Jealous Kind.”
Since the EP release, CWG has slowly been dropping a live video for each song.
So far, he’s released a video for “The Jealous Kind,” “Jesse,” and “Crooked Teeth.”
And this past week, he added yet another video, dropping one for “Lyin’ Low.”
Shot and directed by Louie Nice, along with CWG’s backing band The Allegheny High, the West Virginian put together yet another incredible display of one of his greatest songs.
