The Port of Long Beach is set to showcase its environmental initiatives this weekend.

The Green Port Fair will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 7 — and will showcase what POLB is doing to become the first zero-emissions port in the world, according to a recent press release.

Plus, the first 600 community members in attendance will have an opportunity to participate in a free tour of the harbor.

“Attendees can view ultra-modern zero-emissions cargo-handling equipment that will improve air quality over the next decade,” the port’s announcement said, “learn more about the Port’s environmental programs, and enjoy fun activities and entertainment.”

Aside from the harbor tours, the Green Port Fair will also feature a “Green Treat Trail,” a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescue demo, a beer and wine garden, local dance groups, and live music.

There will also be activities for kids — including touch tanks from the Aquarium of the Pacific, train rides, and face painting.

The event will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harry Bridges Memorial Park, 1126 Queens Highway. Parking will be available in the Queen Mary parking lot and at The Pike Outlets.
