The classic horror film “Carrie” has haunted movie goers since it was released in 1976.
For the third consecutive year, South Bay audiences can revisit the tale starring Sissy Spacek as a teen with telekinetic powers at one of the movie’s locations in Hermosa Beach.
The R-rated film was shot in part at Pier Avenue School, now known as the Hermosa Beach Community Center.
A special screening of the movie, for those 18 years and older, will take place at the Community Center on Friday, Oct. 13. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the screening begins at 8 p.m.
Memorable scenes of the film were shot in the gym, in front of the building’s exterior and outside stairway, where the Hermosa Beach Museum is located.
Event organizers, the Hermosa Beach Community Resources Department, invites attendees to come to the screening dressed in prom attire.
In addition to the movie screening, the event also features behind the scenes look at the filming locations, including photo opportunities and some surprises.
Leadership Hermosa Beach will provide beverages and concessions for purchase with proceeds going towards their class project.
The Community Center is located at 710 Pier Ave.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or at Hermosabeach.gov.
