Charles Wesley Godwin is undoubtedly a rising star in the country music world, and his latest work on his project Family Ties shows CWG as transparent as he’s ever been.
The focus of his third studio album is, as the title of the album suggests, family. It’s the front and center theme of the entire project that beautifully weaves and bleeds from one song to the next.
Family Ties came from a place deep within CWG after an internal battle to find the rhyme and reason for songwriting. The personal journey to find the album resulted in Godwin somewhat getting back to the basics, writing about what is and always will be most important thing in his life.
Godwin told Whiskey Riff in an interview about his album’s release:
“I wrote a whole album about family. It’s real personal to me. I’m singing specifically to my kids and my family and everybody, and there’s nobody quite doing that – for better or worse.”
If you haven’t listened to the album, which released back on September 22nd, you simply have to carve out time to check it out.
A documentary of the same name was released last month along with the 19-song track list, and three music videos for the songs “Family Ties,” “Cue Country Roads,” and “All Again” also accompanied the project.
And it looks like we’ve got an “unofficial” fourth music video with the clip that CWG released on his social media accounts.
While waiting to shoot for the “All Again” music video, Godwin grabbed a guitar and sat in the back of a pick up truck to perform “Dance In Rain.”
He posted the video today with the caption:
“Shot this video up on the farm while we were waiting for the right light during the ‘All Again’ video shoot back in the summer.
Hope y’all enjoy and I’ll see you out on the road this week!”
A heartfelt message to his daughter, just beautiful in every aspect.
CWG also included some upcoming tour dates in the post, which features a stop in Louisiana before three straight Texas shows (of which the last two are sold out).
-10/19: Baton Rouge, LA – Texas Club
-10/20: Fort Worth, TX – HWY 30 Festival
-10/21: New Braunfels, TX – Gruene Hall (SOLD OUT)
-10/22: New Braunfels, TX – Gruene Hall (SOLD OUT)
You better get used to seeing “sold out” by Godwin’s name…
