Alabama’s “Christmas In Dixie” Is The Best Country Christmas Song Ever… Tell Me I’m Wrong

Music

I’m just going to go ahead and say it… Christmas music kind of sucks.

Sorry…

You can only hear “Jingle Bells” so many times before you feel like getting run over by a one-horse open sleigh and when it comes to these original country Christmas songs, it’s slim pickings. And these days, we have clap-track, pop country Christmas songs… you know, the kind of stuff that will make you want to skip Christmas all together.

However, among all the bad, and the very few good ones, one Christmas country song still stands above the rest.

Alabama’s “Christmas In Dixie.”

Maybe it’s the nostalgia, maybe it’s because I grew up in a town called Dixon and it sounds similar (stupid reason, I don’t care), maybe it’s just the fact that it’s Alabama, but there just isn’t a better country Christmas song.

Plain and simple, end of discussion. Robert Earl Keen’s “Merry Christmas From The Family” is a close second, but nothing tops “Christmas In Dixie.”

And I’ll fight anybody who disagrees.
