Wyatt Flores Treats Laurel Cove Music Festival Goers To Acoustic Cover Of Tyler Childers’ “Shake The Frost”

Wyatt Flores is a man of a many covers.

When he isn’t singing his own thoughtful, mature-beyond-his-years music, the 22-year-old is carefully selecting some of the best songs from all different genres to cover. Flores recently borrowed a song from the Turnpike Troubadours during a Red Rocks Trail Mix session, and has most famously covered The Fray’s 2005 hit “How To Save A Life,” which was included on his latest EP.

And while a giant music festival is happening in Music City right now (you very well could be reading this from CMA Fest), another is taking place a couple hours north east of Nashville in Pineville, Kentucky. If you’ve never heard of Laurel Cove Music Festival, put it on your radar for the coming years. Had you heard of it prior to this weekend, you could have been there for Wyatt Flores’ headlining set.

Wyatt rocked the main stage with many of the songs from his newest project Half Life, opening up with “Running Out of Time,” while also performing “Wish I Could Stay” and his hit song “Milwaukee.” After getting through an unbelievable setlist and waving goodbye to the Laurel Cove Music Festival crowd, he and his band eventually came back out for quite the encore.

Flores opted to go legitimately unplugged and treated the festival goers to a cover of Tyler Childers’ “Shake The Frost.” The larger stage quickly transformed into an intimate venue, with the country star and his band belting out the Childers classic, and it became that much more special when those in attendance began to help out with the vocals of the song.

It’s truly one of the more unique concert encores you’ll ever see. I’m sure those that were there at the Laurel Cove Music Festival felt like they got their money’s worth just with this one cover, and luckily for the rest of us, we at least get to see a close-up video of the acoustic performance.
