Koe Wetzel covered Sum 41’s “In Too Deep” at a recent concert, and like with any early 2000’s cover he does of a song in this nostalgic category, I can’t get enough.
Of course, the song was included on the band’s 2001 debut studio album All Killer No Filler, and served as the second official radio single too.
It was originally written by frontman Deryck Whibley and producer Greig Nori, and was inspired by some of Whibley’s high school relationships that, while maybe a bit over simplified, still obviously had universal appeal and something almost anyone could relate to.
The song became a hit in many countries, and peaked at #10 on the Billboard U.S. Alternative Airplay chart. It has since been certifiedGold in Italy and Platinum in the United Kingdom.
And we’ve heard Koe do songs like Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy” and Blink-182’s “All The Small Things” (still one of my favorites that I’d love for him to keep on the set list permanently), and if you get nostalgic hearing songs from the late 90’s and early 2000’s as much as I do, you’ll definitely wanna check this one out.
