You know how that Alabama song goes…
I can already tell this is going to be red dirt goodness. Muscadine Bloodline just announced their next single, “Tickets to Turnpike,” which is slated to release this Friday. They’ve teased the song here and there over the past couple months, but the wait is almost over.
Appropriately, since the song title mentions Turnpike Troubadours, the Alabama duo enlisted the fiddle player for the legendary red dirt band Kyle Nix to be featured on the track.
“If you’re gunna play in Texas
You gotta have fiddle in the band…
Never recorded one in a song
So, Kyle Nix was the man.
“Tickets to Turnpike” featuring Kyle Nix of the Turnpike Troubadours out Friday.”
I must admit I was shocked to hear that Muscadine has never featured a fiddle in their songs until now, but boy, did they find the right man for the job. Aside from his longstanding position in the Turnpike Troubadours, Kyle Nix also showcases his stellar songwriting ability with his other band, Kyle Nix & The 38’s.
This is another single from Muscadine’s forthcoming album, The Coastal Plain, which will drop on August 16th. From the previously released twangers like “Mary Riley,” “Earle Byrd From Mexia,” and “Low Hangin’ Fruit,” to their last single, which was a tender love ballad, “10-9,” everything has been top-notch.
Earlier this year, Muscadine noted they felt this record was the best music they have ever recorded, and thus far, I’d personally say that statement is true. I can’t wait to see what is in store for “Tickets to Turnpike.” This week’s Country New Music Friday is about to be stacked…
While you’re here, fire up a few of the previously released singles.
