Back-to-school season is upon us, and with it comes big expenses. Even if you’re not majoring in microeconomics, being a college student means learning how to save money. Fortunately, there are plenty of student discounts worth taking advantage of, including savings on TV and music streaming services, leaving plenty of money in your pocket for ramen noodles.
By registering with an “.edu” email address, you can get subscriptions to Amazon Prime, Max, Peacock, and more (for less). College students should also sign up for Unidays, a free website that hosts hundreds of student-exclusive savings. In addition to discounts on monthly subscription rates, many streaming services offer students extended free trials, as much as 6 months in some cases.
Not only will you save a few bucks, but many offer ad-free viewing, unlimited access to exclusive content, and affordable bundles. So take a study break to catch up on the latest TV shows and movies with the best student discounts from these streaming services.
Amazon Prime
Amazon has one of the best free trials available for students right now — with Prime Student, you get a six-month free subscription of Amazon Prime, and after that, it’s just $7.49/month for as long as you’re still a student (which is 50% off the normal membership cost). You’ll get access to Amazon’s catalog of TV shows and movies, free unlimited photo storage with Prime Photo, Amazon Music, and the usual perks of two-day Prime shipping (so you can send yourself your own care package). Students can also add discounted streaming add-ons like MGM+, Shudder, Sundance Now, and more.
Spotify Premium with Hulu
One of the best ways to save on streaming services is with bundles, and Spotify’s student plan includes a subscription to the king of streaming bundles, Hulu. The deal includes the ad-free version of Spotify and the ad-supported version of Hulu. Whether you’re streaming a “focus” playlist before a big exam or blasting your 2000s hip-hop mix at your next party, Spotify has millions of songs and plenty of playlists for every occasion. Individually, a Spotify and Hulu subscription would be $12.99 and $7.99 a month, respectively, which makes this $5.99 bundle deal one of the best student discounts.
Hulu
If you’re not interested in the Spotify bundle, Hulu offers a great standalone plan for students at $1.99/month. This is $5 off their standard plan of $7.99/month, with full access to Hulu originals, movies, and TV shows. The only downside is you’ll still have to watch a few commercials, though.

Paramount+
At 25% off, the Paramount+ student discount is not the biggest, percentage-wise, but it’s already one of the more affordable streaming services. Typically $5.99 for the limited ad-supported tier, students can subscribe for $4.50 a month. You’ll be able to watch everything from live-streamed sports to hit shows from MTV, Comedy Central, and more.
YouTube Premium
YouTube Premium includes perks like ad-free videos and the ability to save videos for offline viewing and in the background without interruptions. Plus, a YouTube Premium subscription includes access to YouTube’s dedicated music app. The student discount includes a one-month free trial followed by a $7.99/month subscription.
Apple TV+
Students can get Apple TV+ and Apple Music for free for one month with a student subscription, followed by a discounted rate of $5.99/month (for up to 48 months). Not only will you get access to 50 million songs (in high definition) you can watch originals like Silo and Severance with this affordable bundle. Plus, Apple also has other discounts for students like savings on laptops and tablets.
DashPass
Even college students can’t subsist on ramen noodles alone. While this isn’t a streaming deal, this is one of the best student discounts and a particularly great option for campus-bound students without a car. DashPass’ student subscription costs just $4.99 a month and includes perks like $0 delivery fees and members-only offers.
