Lainey Wilson was right in proclaiming it – “Country’s Cool Again”
Slowly but Surely, we’ve seen country music infiltrate the ranks of professional sports. Likely due to country music being main stream as of late (shoutout to Post Malone and Beyoncé), the genre is really having a moment. Even NFL stars are getting in on it.
Before I start giving Buffalo Bills star Von Miller credit for his taste in music, I’d be remiss if I didn’t shoutout Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler. Long before this video below made its rounds on the internet, the NBA star was being an impassioned proponent of country music.
Just as Butler has been playing country to try and win over his teammates ever since he discovered it, Von Miller is also trying to get his locker room on board by bumping country music when he has the aux cord. And he was hitting his Bills teammates with an all-time-classic, playing “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn.
The country music duo released the hit song in 1991 as a part of their “Brand New Man” album. That means that Miller cued up an “oldie-but-a-goodie,” and as you’ll hear in the video below, the certified country classic sounded exceptional coming through the NFL locker room’s state-of-the-art sound system.
It’s funny to think that some Buffalo Bill’s players heard this 30+ year old song for the very first time thanks to Miller:
