Sam Barber appears to be soon releasing a cover of a Timmy T Childers favorite.
Over the years, fans have been begging Tyler Childers to release the fan-favorite track “Jersey Giant.” Many artists have covered the catchy song, including Josiah and the Bonnevilles, Evan Honer, and Maggie Antone. Last year, Elle King got Tyler Childers’ blessing to cut a version of the song during her country crossover.
While many Tyler Childers fans are holding out that one day we will get a studio cut of the song from the Kentucky native, I think we will be waiting for some more time (like forever). However, a fresher face to country music revealed that he will release his take on the beloved single. Sam Barber has been a powerhouse in country music since he broke out on the scene with his hit song “Dancing In The Sky.”
His gritty and powerful songwriting perfectly fits his raspy vocals, which sound well beyond his years. Since the release of his debut EP, Million Eyes, the twenty-one-year-old has continued to grow in fame and capture new fans daily with his singer-songwriter musical style. At a recent show, Sam Barber told fans he wasn’t supposed to tell them some news but decided to share it anyway.
“I do a cover every night of a song called ‘Jersey Giant.’ And I’m not really supposed to share this, but, um, we are going to release it as a single…”
The rest of the announcement is muffled as Barber trails off, noting that it will be on streaming platforms. The audience goes wild as soon as he says he is going to release it as a single. Without wasting more time, he signals off the band to fire up the melody, and they dive right into the track.

I hope we get this single from Barber sooner rather than later; I feel like it would be a massive hit for the Missouri native. Barber was honest when he said he does a cover of “Jersey Giant” almost every show, so fans are already familiar with and love his take on the Childers’ track.
Even though he was not supposed to share this news with his fans, I am glad he let the cat out of the bag. This was just the news I needed to hear this week.
Without the original version from Tyler Childers, this news would not be as nearly as exciting. So, while you’re here, fire up the version we have to thank for all these incredible covers. (And maybe say a prayer that one day Timmy T will decide to release a studio cut of it himself.)
