WATCH: Sturgill Simpson Takes ‘Why Not? Tour’ To Kentucky For Homecoming Show At Rupp Arena

Week two is checked off the list.

I hoped we’d get these recaps after each week of this tour passes, and I have never been happier to open YouTube and see a week two recap on my suggested page. The Why Not? Tour is rolling on through the country as Sturgill Simpson and the boys hit Montana, Minnesota, his home state of Kentucky, and Michigan.

Again, the tour recap highlights enthusiastic fans who are excited to see Sturgill Simpson back on stage throughout the week. Simpson continues to deliver high-energy performances, bringing fans the best of Sturgill Simpson’s discography while playing the newly loved songs of Johnny Blue Skies and ensuring fans get their fill of jam session goodness.

Sturgill, Miles, Kevin, Robbie, and Laur are hitting their stride during this week’s two recaps, and the shows keep getting better and better.

The crown jewel of the recap from the week was Sturgill’s homecoming show throwing down at The University of Kentucky’s famed Rupp Arena.

Before they took the stage at Rupp, the cameraman went behind the scenes and shared a snippet of Miles, who is also a Kentucky native, getting a custom Kentucky basketball jersey. He was hyped about the gift he got to wear on stage, playing in front of their hometown crowd.

“No way, dude. I was just telling them I’m riding way too high right now. Holy sh*t.”

He says as he opens the royal blue jersey.

Simpson highlighted his bluegrass picking while on the Rupp Arena stage, also sporting a custom Kentucky Wildcats jersey. The snippets from the Chicago shows look electric as they jam out in front of the packed crowd.

I love these weekly recaps that Sturgill and his team are putting together. Since fans can’t attend every show, it’s fun to watch the energy the group brings to the stage at each stop and to have a sneak peek at what the tour looks like behind the curtain.

I can’t wait to see what week three has in store.
