Cody Jinks Tells The Full Story Behind The Viral Video Of A Fan Getting Tased On Stage: “He Broke One Of The Officer’s Arms”

Music

If you ask Cody Jinks what to do when a crazed fan jumps on stage, he’d likely tell you that the show must go on.

The 2019 concert video will forever live on as one of the craziest on-stage moments the music world has ever seen. Jinks was closing out his show with a performance of his powerful hit “Loud and Heavy” when a man that one could describe as loud and heavy jumped on stage to try and get to Jinks.

Fortunately, police that were stationed by the stage subdued the mammoth of a man, though the guy didn’t go down without a fight. The authorities had no choice but to use all the force they had, and even tased the man who had vaulted up on stage – all while Cody Jinks and his band kept on going with the song.

If you’ve never seen it before, it’s a must watch:

So naturally, when Cody Jinks joined the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast, we had to ask him about the whole crazy encounter that will now live on forever online. The modern day outlaw explained that he wasn’t even aware it was happening for the most part:

“My eyes were closed during that, and you can see in the video, our guitar player Chris starts to take his guitar off because at this point, I have no idea what’s going on. ‘Loud and Heavy’ is our closer, it always has been. We were in Georgia, some deep south, rough and tumble place.

Guy gets super excited, as people do, and I have my own security detail now. This has been years ago. This dude gets super excited. Big ol’ boy jumps up on stage and he’s trucking his way over to me because (in his mind) he’s gonna sing with me.”

The way Jinks told the story, it sure seemed like he had a little sympathy for this guy who just wanted to come up and share a microphone with him.

However, when the guy continued to be difficult – and even get violent – things almost escalated to the point where Jinks’ lead guitarist, Chris Claridy, was going to try and knock the man out with his guitar:

“The police officers and then our agent Mike was there, and they all tried to stop this gargantuan man. He starts throwing people off and it starts becoming a thing now because now he’s getting irritated and pissed – and all he wanted to do was come sing with me. I still have no idea this is going on.

They tase this dude. You can see him yanking the tasers out on stage. I still don’t know this is going on. You can start seeing Chris take his guitar off… Chris is gonna club this bastard with a Telecaster. It ended up hurting our booking agent, messed his ankle up on a fall. They all went down, broke one of the officer’s arms. So he got quite a bit thrown at him for that.”

Unbelievable. And it makes it all that much better that Jinks and his band never missed a beat of “Loud and Heavy” while all of this was going on.

And Jinks made sure to add that the guy who rushed the stage told the country rock star that he was sorry for what he did:

“He did apologize to me. I don’t know if he apologized to the cops or not. But yeah, that happened. Had no idea until the very end, I looked over finally and was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ Everybody was rolling around.”
