Say what you will about Post Malone, but the guy appreciates good country music.
Of course it’s easy for country music purists to dismiss Posty as just another pop star wanting to get into country music. But he’s proven time and time again that he’s actually a fan of country music. And I’m not just talking about the country music that you hear on the radio these days: I mean real deal traditional country music.
Post has covered everything from Hank Williams and Johnny Cash to Joe Diffie and Dwight Yoakam, dating back to long before the recent release of his own country album F-1 Trillion.
And if you needed more evidence that Post knows good country music when he hears it, what if I told you he’s also a Zach Top fan?
I mean who isn’t a Zach Top fan these days, right? The guy is killing it right now as he brings his traditional country sound back to the mainstream, and over the past year he’s exploded in popularity with the release of songs like “I Never Lie” and “Sounds Like the Radio.”
Well Posty was in Orange Beach, Alabama last night for a stop on his F-1 Trillion tour. And after his performance at The Wharf Amphitheater, he did what any music lover would do and headed to the legendary Flora-Bama.
The bar on the Florida-Alabama state line has played host to countless country music greats over the years. And when Post hopped up on stage with the band, he not only performed his own song “I Had Some Help,” but he also joined in for a performance of Zach’s hit “I Never Lie.”
Now, was it the best vocal performance in the world? Not exactly. Were people in the comments comparing it to karaoke? Definitely.
But does it serve as further proof that Post Malone loves and appreciates good country music? Damn right it does.
