A high-speed chase that crossed from Los Angeles to Kern County on Wednesday ended in a dramatic, deadly crash in North Antelope Valley.

The chase began sometime around 2 p.m. after authorities received a report of a stolen vehicle. The driver of a stolen Honda CRV sped off at speeds exceeding 100 mph on freeways as she tried desperately to evade law enforcement.

While traveling through Kern County on the northbound 5 Freeway, the driver, traveling at a speed of about 110 mph, drove offroad and crashed into a barrier in a freeway underpass. The vehicle came to a halt shortly after 3 p.m. on the 5 freeway’s Quail Lake Road exit.
