“Gotta Be ‘Something More’ Than 4 More Years Of The Hell We’ve Been Living” – Country Fans React To Sugarland Playing Kamala Harris Rally

Music

A country music endorsement for Kamala Harris on the night before Election Day.

Of course, it’s expected to be a tight race today between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, and we’ll (hopefully) know who the next President of the United States is going to be sometime late tonight.

Both candidates held multiple rallies yesterday, with VP Harris spending all of her time in the swing state of Pennsylvania.

But there were still other rallies for her throughout the country, one of which happened in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the music venue the Ritz, where James Taylor, Sugarland and Remi Wolf performed. North Carolina is likely to go for Trump once again, as it has in the last two elections where he was running, though it is expected to be close.

Country music duo Sugarland found a lot of success in the genre in the early 2000s with hits like “Stay” and “Stuck Like Glue,” as well as “Something More,” which they sang at the rally.

Many fans found that particularly ironic and rich, and let them have in the comments where they shared the video on Instagram. Others were surprised to find out that Sugarland is supporting Harris for President, though Jennifer Nettles in particular has been open an outspoken in the past about the fact that she’s a Democrat, so I guess some of them just haven’t been paying attention? I don’t know…

Plenty of people also left comments saying they were “disappointed” to find out both members of Sugarland are liberals, although, I’ve always tried to separate the music from the politics when it comes to who my favorite musicians endorse. It’s your prerogative to continue listening to someone you don’t agree with or not, and it seems like a lot of fans were surprised by this and might be looking for a new favorite band:

“Yes, there’s gotta be something more than 4 more years of the hell we’ve been living. They are absolutely right!”

“Kamala’s gotta do something more than hire celebrities lmao what a sh*tty campaign she ran. Historically bad. Worse than Biden hiding in the basement she would have been better off doing that. Every interview she did do she fell in the polls.”

“Perfect song for Harris being on her way out!”

“Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump! It’s time for positive change!”

“Did they take their audience in consideration…. Like at all… who do you think middle class, hard working, country Americans are voting for…. Trump 2024.”

“Something more than kam kam..byeeee.”

“We’ll have to agree to disagree. Working class Americans are too busy trying to make ends meet to care who rich celebrities are voting for anyway.”

“Damn.. WHY?? You have just told half the country we don’t matter by getting political. So disappointing.”

“So desperate…..we still winning #trump2024”

“Nope.. voting for Trump!! MAHA!!”

“Wow! Disappointed.”

“All of a sudden I don’t like them anymore….”

“Jennifer has been a liberal FOREVER!! Do I agree? Not even in the slightest. But I’m not so simple minded that I can’t look past it. Still love her!!”

“Ugh….disappointing.”

“What a HUGE disappointment. Have they lost their minds???”

“Well I used to like Sugarland. Singing for Kamala is like Sugarland giving the middle finger to all their fans and the country. Shame on you Sugarland. What you couldn’t find an ethical payday?”

“So disappointed in this….. I really liked Sugarland…….. not anymore.”

“Disappointed to hear this …Trump 47.Let’s go!”

Of course, many others voice their support for Sugarland playing the Harris rally, and were excited to see them doing so:

“Damn anyone that’s surprised by this hasn’t paid attention for the last 20 years. It’s always been clear where Sugarland falls politically.”

“I attended the Sugarland/Little Big Town show in Buffalo this weekend. Seeing this makes me even more happy to support.”

“All of you guys who are disappointed, get ready to really clutch your pearls when you find out this little fact, they’ve actually played Atlanta pride Festival several times and have always been bleeding heart liberals ::gasp::”

“We’re gonna be bigger. I love you and thank you, Sugarland!”

“Loved you before this….love you even more now!!!!”

“Part of the problem with this country is that people don’t pay attention. Do you really think that a country artist that covers TONY by Patti Griffin is really gonna be a Trump supporter?!? You clearly weren’t a fan anyway, so yeah. Go away. Sugarland rocks.”

I guess I should leave this here now too… but I have to admit, the fact that they chose “Something More” in particular is pretty funny, especially considering Harris is part of the current White House administration.
