More Zach Bryan drama…

This week, the BFF’s pod released their tell-all episode with Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry, who has been going through a very public breakup from country star Zach Bryan.

With her co-hosts in Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy and personality Josh Richards, Brianna was very open about the truth of their rocky relationship, in what she called a year of “emotional abuse.”

She recalled some wild stories, including one where Zach was allegedly upset that she had a Morgan Wallen song stuck in her head, and she also revealed details about their fight over what she wore to the Golden Globes. The story that’s definitely gotten the most attention, though, was the fact that Bri was offered $12 MILLION to sign and NDA and keep all of this hush-hush.

She mentioned a few times on the podcast that there was obviously a lot more that she wouldn’t reveal publicly, just because she didn’t want to deal with the fallout of it being out there, which is fair, but I was scrolling on TikTok earlier when I noted a very interesting video and comment.

Of course, many country fans, especially all of you with great taste that follow Whiskey Riff, know and have known what an incredible talent Charles Wesley Godwin is.

His 2019 Seneca album sent shockwaves through the genre with just how raw and amazing it was, How the Mighty Fall in 2021 was a continuation of that and just as good, and when CWG released his first major label album Family Ties in 2023, it was apparent that he was here to stay.

Some, especially some of us here at Whiskey Riff, think he’s the best in the business.

Obviously, he was destined to be a huge star and would have made it no matter what, it helped that he was the opening act on his Burn, Burn, Burn Tour in 2023, as well as other tour runs and shows there for a while.

They seemed to be pretty close friends, and CWG was also featured on Bryan’s 2022 song “Jamie” a part of his Summertime Blues EP, but last year when Godwin put out his big Family Ties record, Zach put out his Boys of Faith EP on the same day, which many fans didn’t love.

Well, with all this stuff coming out about his relationship with Bri, fans have also noticed that CWG no longer follows Zach on Instagram (Zach still follows him, for whatever that’s worth), and they haven’t been acknowledging or talking about each other much at all anymore.

One girl shared this TikTok earlier, saying:

“Dave this, Bri that. Call me nosey but I wanna know why Charles Wesley Godwin doesn’t follow ZB anymore even though they performed together at Ohio Fest. Reminder that CWG was the opener for multiple shows and they’ve collaborated many times and ZB still follows him…”

And Bri must’ve seen it too, because she left a comment saying she had a ton of “tea” on what happened between them…

“Ohhhhhh boy, the tea I have.”

Inquiring minds have to know, Bri… please share more because all of us country music fans must know what really went down:

@haileyrenac Could mean something, probably nothing. CWG>ZB any day 🫶🏻 #zachbryan #briannachickenfry #bffspod #smallestmanwhoeverlived ♬ Jamie (feat. Charles Wesley Godwin) – Zach Bryan

And who really knows what that means, but it sounds like something definitely went down between the two. I’m not here to speculate…

The old “who needs enemies when you have friends like that” saying feels appropriate if what Bri is alleging about Zach’s character is true… at least we’ll always have “Jamie,” though I can’t really listen to it the same way anymore:

“Jamie”
