Sundance Head Shares Video Update Following Accidental Shooting: “I Was Sure That I Was Gonna Die”

Sundance Head is still recovering from a scary incident that took place at his Texas ranch, but he’s now doing well enough to explain what happened in his own words.

In case you missed it, an accidental shooting involving the former winner of The Voice took place last Friday. Thankfully, the gunshot wound that Sundance suffered did not cause any internal damage. As to how he was shot, his wife Misty revealed that he was his ranch hunting by himself, and friends were expected to join him over the weekend. She clarified that he was not shot with his hunting rifle, and assured everyone that no one shot him.

It was apparently a freak accident where the gun went off when Sundance dropped the firearm and it bumped into the exterior of his Jeep. Fortunately, the bullet entered just above Sundance’s navel and lodged in his abdominal wall. He was life flighted to the nearest hospital, and because no vital organs were affected, the doctors opted to leave the bullet, and no surgery was needed.

Head’s wife was doing a great job keeping fans updated via Facebook, and after informing everyone that the singer-songwriter had been released from the hospital, she went on to say that Sundance would explain how everything went down in his own words when he was ready. Misty also said that hat she wouldn’t be surprised if Sundance turned this life-threatening incident into a full-blown album (or at the very least a singular song).

And now, Sundance Head is finally feeling good enough to send a message out to his fans in his own words. The “Darlin’ Don’t Go” singer took to Facebook to post a couple of videos reassuring his followers that he was okay and thanking everyone who came to his rescue – specifically the car that stopped to help him when he was trying to flag down help:

“I wanted to come on and tell you guys that I’m still alive, thankfully. Thanks to the good Lord above and the wonderful first responders that helped me, as well as the trauma team at UT Tyler. They did a wonderful job and they really did keep me alive. I was sure that I was gonna die. It was one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to me…

I also want to thank the people that were on highway 84 that stopped to help me. Without you man, I don’t think I was going to make it. I was bleeding out right there. I didn’t have anyone to help me, and had about a dozen cars go by and see me and make eye contact and they didn’t stop. They just kept going, and I’ll tell you what buddy, I was at the end of the road.”

As you heard in the video, Sundance said he plans on spending more time with the good Samaritans that stopped on the side of the highway to help him. But it’s crazy to think that 12 cars passed by Head as he was in desperate need of help and none of them stopped…

Sundance released a follow up video explaining how everything happened in detail. The former winner of The Voice is truly counting his blessings after a brush with death, and as he put it, he’s trying to find a positive in all of it.

We’ll likely hear more about that positive as the country music artist releases more videos.
