Dasha Gets Roasted For Collaboration With The Wiggles: “Whose Idea Was This?”

It looks like the royalty checks from “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” aren’t cutting it.

Dasha could not catch a break in 2024. The San Luis Obispo, California native blew up on social media last year when her song “Austin” went viral. Although it’s more of a pop song with a country influence, similar to Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” the song talks about a lover not sticking to their plan of moving, and she’s left to pick up the pieces and move on.

While I must admit the song is catchy, Dasha received her first bit of backlash after the viral moment when she performed it live at last year’s CMT Music Awards. The award show, held in Austin, was the perfect opportunity for Dasha to perform “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’),” but her vocals combined with her choreography were a train wreck. Clearly, someone had not warned her about dancing, trying to sing, and the breathy vocals that can lead to.

Just when we thought Dasha would turn things around to end 2024, her Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance did just the opposite.

Dasha saw some pushback with her outfit as some podcasts and social media outlets did not like the corset-style outfit for the family-friendly program. But the real kicker was the number the rain did on her makeup. The drizzly Thanksgiving morning led to her red lipstick being smudged all over her face after the lip sync performance. And no, I’m not being mean by saying she did not sing live; it’s known that performance audios are pre-recorded for the parade, and nothing is sung live.

Sadly for Dasha, her 2025 is also off to a rough start. Last week, Dasha released her first single of the year, collaborating with The Wiggles (yes, the hit kid’s TV musical group) (yes, “Fruit Salad” singers, The Wiggles). Dasha and the group dropped the track “Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!,” which is also the name of their forthcoming country album.

While Dasha’s single was the first to drop, the rest of the record features a star-studded lineup. Who knew The Wiggles had such pull to get heavy hitters like Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Jackson Dean, and more to appear on a record?

Honestly, “Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!” is a catchy little kids tune.

However, given that Dasha’s single was the first released and given the rough year she had, the internet took it as a prime opportunity to sink their teeth into her.

Check out some of the comments left on the post.

“Rent was DUE this month.”

“The wiggles are so unserious now, and I love it.”

“This is kind of where she deserves to be.”

“WHAT, I’M SCREAMING.”

“Why is this her best song.”

“This makes a lot of sense.”

“Nooo. What?”

“Honestly, this suits her.”

“Whose idea was this?”

“A collab I never knew I didn’t need… and still don’t.”

“I didn’t know The Wiggles were this down bad.”

I mean, the Wiggles peaked in like 2005, when Dasha was probably about 5 years old, so I suppose this all makes sense…
