The Los Angeles area has a long road to recovery after wildfires that sparked in early January wreaked havoc on the city. Entire neighborhoods were wiped off the map as the Palisades and Eaton fires collectively burned over 36,000 acres. Firefighters fought to contain the fires in what could only be described as nightmare conditions. It’s only been in recent weeks and days that the fires have reached levels of over 95% containment.

The blazing and uncontrollable fires were started in the residential community known as the Pacific Palisades, and unfortunately, the natural disaster has claimed the lives of at least 29 people and have left hundreds (if not thousands) of people without a home in the greater Los Angeles area. Americans all across the country have watched as the horror played out, and now, people are banding together to do what they can to help.

Chris and Morgane Stapleton are some of those people.

The country music power couple founded their charitable organization, “Outlaw State of Kind,” back in 2016. If you are to visit the website for the foundation, you’ll find that the Stapletons like to use the fund to help with a number of different causes:

“Outlaw State of Kind is Chris and Morgane Stapleton’s charitable fund that supports a variety of causes that are close to their heart.”

And the “White Horse” singer’s charitable organization was put into action today as they announced that they’d be donating money to help with wildfire relief efforts in California. Outlaw State of Kind posted to their social media account letting everyone know that they’ve contributed $1 million to help the Los Angeles area:

“Outlaw State of Kind has donated $1 million to support national and local organizations providing wildfire relief in Los Angeles. Join us in supporting however you can.”

The national organizations that Outlaw State of Kind chose to partner with include the American Red Cross, Direct Relief’s California Fire Relief, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief Fund 2025, Project Hope Save The Children, and the Children’s Emergency Fund

Local organizations that their donations aided included the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund, the California Fire Foundation’s California Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund, and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s California Wildfires Recovery Fund.

The Stapletons also chose to donate some of their organization’s money to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Mutual Aid LA Network Pasadena Community Foundation, and the Ventura County Community Foundation. There were also donations provided to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the World Central Kitchen.

On top of that, Outlaw State of Kind made sure to take care of some organizations and foundations that might not be at the forefront of other’s list. Knowing that the wildfire ravaged city could use some help in more specific areas, they sent some of the funds to arts programs, like MusicCares’ Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, Sweet Relief’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund, and We Are Moving The Needle’s Wildlife Relief Fund.

And finally, the Stapletons couldn’t forget about the animals and pets that have been displaced by the natural disaster. The Outlaw State of Kind’s charitable reach also helped the Best Friends Animal Society, the Pasadena Humane Society and the Wetlands and Wildfire Care Center.
