Blake’s new single is here.

Debuted on New Year’s Eve, Blake found himself in hot water with the Twitter outrage mob over the content of the lyrics, mostly the glorification of minimum wage. Especially during a pandemic…

Granted country music has always told stories of the common man, and even Ronnie Dunn came to Blake’s defense over the song, but now the dust has settled and the song is out.

For Blake, the second he heard it, he wanted to record it:

“I heard ‘Minimum Wage’ over a year ago and connected with it immediately. It’s the timeless truth that you don’t need a lot of money or possessions, you just need love.”

Written by Nicolle Galyon, Corey Crowder and Jesse Frasure, “Minimum Wage” takes Blake back to his days giggin’ at dive bars in Oklahoma, but also brings him to present day and the newfound happiness he has with his fiancée Gwen Stefani.

“I relate so much to the lyrics of this song. I have a lot of great memories playing dive bars in Nashville and then driving back to Oklahoma to play a gig. I gravitate toward songs that feel like the stories of where I’ve been and where I am currently in my life, and I’ve got a lot of happiness in joy in my life these days.”
