National Night Out, Aug. 3, brings community, police together for crime prevention tips and family fun

National Night Out, Aug. 3, brings law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and the public together to learn about neighborhood crime, crime prevention tips, safety at home and creating neighborhood watch groups while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere.

Put together your own neighborhood block-party get-together or find one from a sampling of events in the San Fernando Valley, Glendale, Lakewood and West Hollywood. Remember to turn on your front porch light as a symbol of public awareness for the annual event.

Mission Hills and Sylmar National Night Out Against Crime and Drugs: Meet Los Angeles Police Department senior lead officers and members of neighborhood council and neighborhood watch groups plus music by DJ Bobby Arias, food, raffle prizes and community exhibits, 5-7 p.m. The event is co-hosted by Los Angeles Police Department’s Basic Cars: 19A43, 19A1 and 19A7.
