Alan Jackson Shares Labor Day Salute To Working Class With “Hard Hat And A Hammer”

Music

Country music has had a longstanding relationship with the working class.

The voice of the common man, over the years country music has given us blue collar anthems like Merle Haggard’s “Workin’ Man Blues,” Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5,” Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job & Shove It,” Alabama’s “Forty Hour Week,” and a ton more.

And today’s artists have carried on the tradition.

We have Luke Combs’ “Blue Collar Boys,” Tyler Childers’ “Peace Of Mind,” Josh Thompson’s “Beer On the Table,” Kacey Musgrave’s “Blowin’ Smoke,” and many, many more.

Yep, country music is built on the real life stories of everyday people like you and me. Those men and women busting their asses to get the bills paid, put food on the table, and perhaps give their children a better life than the one they had.

And perhaps nobody understands the rich history of country music quite like Alan Jackson right now.

Fed up with country music these days, Alan Jackson took it upon himself to “bring country back,” and well hell if he didn’t just go out and do it. His recently released studio album, Where Have You Gone, is exceptional.

But with today being Labor Day, Big Al took the opportunity to raise a glass to all those hard workin’ men and women out there with a clip from his 2010 hit, “Hard Hat And A Hammer.”

Released as the second single from his 2010 album Freight Train, the blue collar anthem even features the sound of an anvil that Alan’s father owned.

“Happy Labor Day to all you hard working men and women!”

God bless the workin’ man.
