Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 1,229 new cases and 24 more deaths, Oct. 15

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 1,229 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,475,694 as of Friday, Oct. 15. The total number of cases represents 14.6% of Los Angeles County’s population.

Officials reported 24 more deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total of 26,395 deaths since tracking began. The total number of deaths represents 0.26% of Los Angeles County’s population.

There were no new hospitalizations reported since Thursday, keeping the official count to 658.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, 70% of Los Angeles County is fully vaccinated and more than 13,123,974 vaccine doses have been administered as of Oct. 15.
