I don’t blame you, there’s few songs that get the people going more than “Song Of The South.”
Written by Bob McDill, it’s by far one of Alabama’s most recognizable and defining songs, and was the lead single of their 1989 album Southern Star. It quickly went to #1, the 24th of the group’s legendary career.
Southern Star, which was released on this date in 1989, went on to produce three more #1 singles, “If I Had You,” “High Cotton,” and the title track, which propelled it to #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and a Platinum Certification by RIAA for over 1 million sales.
There’s no party that isn’t elevated by throwing this anthem on and screaming with your buddies, that’s a guarantee.
