Ahead of his Nashville shows, Garth discussed plans for the bar in more detail, officially confirming that it would be named Friends in Low Places (although it had already been reported because the giant sign in the window kinda gave that one away).

Garth also joked that he had another name in mind for the bar before settling on Friends in Low Places:
“We tried The G-Spot, but that’s probably not gonna work.”
When asked what he was hoping the bar would look like, Garth gave the most Garth answer possible:
“I want the Chick-fil-a of honky tonks. I want a place you go in where you feel good, you feel safe. Everybody’s got good manners. I’m hoping that there’s right when you walk in it’s a ‘Love Everybody’ stated right there. That’s what it’s about, right? So I want a place that’s just safe. That feels good.”
The “Chick-fil-A of honky tonks?” If Garth’s going for the Chick-fil-A, Luke Bryan definitely has the Burger King of honky tonks. And FGL has the gas station bathroom of honky tonks.
But I’ll give Garth credit: He went on to say that he actually wants to hear country music in his bar, which automatically sets it apart from most of the bars on Broadway these days:
“I’d love it to be a classic honky tonk. Cause country music to me has been so good to me. And I want to hear, on lower Broadway in 2022, I want to hear King George coming out of that honky tonk. I want to hear Haggard coming out of that honky tonk. And I don’t think that’s impossible to ask.”
Well if you walk down Broadway these days it sure seems impossible.
“I’m hoping this place is a thumpin’ place, that’s always looks like somethin’s going crazy in there. I like that. But when you walk in I hope it’s country music that you hear.”
I mean honestly, if the staff is nice and they actually play country music, he’s already got most of the other artist bars on Broadway beat. So maybe I’ll give Friends in Low Places a shot when it opens before completely writing it off.
