Pony Bradshaw To Release New Album ‘North Georgia Rounder’ In January

Music

Pony Bradshaw has a new project on the way.

He just announced his forthcoming album North Georgia Rounder is slated to drop on January 27th, 2023.

The follow-up to his 2021 Calico Jim record, the Georgia native says the album was inspired by his travels out on the road playing music, as well as his life back home in the Appalachian region of the peach state:

“I long for a well-ordered life and it gets tricky trying to reconcile that need with spending half my life on the road.

But stories need to be told and I’ve somehow finagled my way into a position to tell them.”

He released the lead single “Foxfire Wine” earlier today, which is full of beautiful pedal steel, and was actually inspired by Bruce Chatwin’s book Songlines.

The book is about nomadic people that live in Australia, but Bradshaw curated the lyrics to fit what he knows based on life in Southern Appalachia:

The whole album was recorded in just five days at Jason Weinheimer’s Fellowship Hall Sound in Little Rock, Arkansas, the same place where he tracked Calico Jim.

Bradshaw added that, at this point in his life, he’s embracing every part of who he is and pouring that authenticity into his music:

“I learned, after quite a bit of time, and trial and error, that we’re all original if we are just who we are, if we just create or make what we find value in and what interests us we’ll be fine.

I no longer fight who I am. I revere the traditions and old ways and try to find my path somewhere in the middle.”

He also put out another song from the tracklist today, “Safe in the Arms of Vernacular”:

And we all know some of the best music out right now is coming straight from Appalachia, so make sure you check out all the great music Pony Bradshaw already has out, and stay tuned for more from North Georgia Rounder.
