Red Dirt Artist Jake Flint Unexpectedly Passed Away In His Sleep Hours After Wedding Sunday Night

A very sad day in country music.

It was recently confirmed that country singer/Red Dirt artist Jake Flint sadly passed away just hours after his wedding to wife Brenda on Sunday night.

He was only 37 years old and was from Mounds, Oklahoma.

Jake had tied the knot the day prior with new wife Brenda, and late last night, his publicist Clif Doyal told The Oklahoman that Jake passed away in his sleep, though an exact cause has yet to be determined or disclosed.

Jake’s manager Brenda Cline, of Route 66 Management, shared a lengthy post on Facebook on Sunday, confirming his passing and saying she “loved him much like a son.”

She added what an absolutely tragic and heartbreaking time this is for his family, friends, and especially new wife Brenda Flint.

Here’s her full post:

“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away. I’ve tried several times today to make a post, but you can’t comment on what you can’t process. The photo below is when Jake and I excitedly signed our artist management contract.

That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship and partnership. Jake was even more than that to me, I loved him much like a son. The funniest, most hilarious, hardest working, dedicated artist I have ever worked with in my career.

We were just about to embark on some business together after he and Brenda got married- which was yesterday. Yes-yesterday. Jake has a million friends and I’m not sure how everyone will cope with this tragic loss. We need prayers- it’s all so surreal.

Please please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake’s precious mother, his sister and the rest of his family and friends. This is going to be incredibly difficult for so many. We love you Jake and in our hearts forever.”

His wife, Brenda Flint, shared a few heartbreaking posts on her own Facebook page, including a clip from what appears to be after their wedding ceremony taking photos, with the caption:

“I do not understand.”

The wedding took place on Saturday, November 26th, according to his Facebook page.

It’s an unthinkable and awful tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and widow during this awful and traumatic time.

Jake released his first album I’m Not Okay in 2016, and subsequently put out three more in the following years, including Live and Not OK at Cain’s Ballroom in 2018, the self-titled Jake Flint in 2020, and most recently Live and Socially Distanced at Mercury Lounge in 2021.

He had a few charting songs on local Texas country charts during his music career, including “Cowtown,” “Long Road Back Home” and “What’s Your Name.”

Jake was also named Breakout Artist of the Year at the We Are Tulsa Music Awards in 2019.

There is now a Go Fund Me page set up to raise money for his wife and family.

RIP Jake Flint.
