Charles Wesley Godwin Performs “Jesse” Live From The Church

Music

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that Charles Wesley Godwin is the best thing in country music right now.

Obviously, a very subjective statement, but for my money, CWG and The Allegheny High are on fire right now.

My advice… go see him as soon as you can because it’s only a matter of time before he’s in the company of artists like Turnpike, Childers and Zach Bryan, and tickets will be hard to come by.

That being said, he’s already off to a hot start this year with the release of his Live From The Church EP, a killer little 5-piece project featuring a few CWG favorites and a couple covers.

The first single released off of the project was a stellar cover of Chris Knight’s “The Jealous Kind.”

The EP also features a cover of Zach Bryan’s “Crooked Teeth,” straight from his 2020 Quiet, Heavy Dreams EP, as well as his own songs “Lyin’ Low,” “Jesse,” and “Temporary Town,” all from his 2021 How the Mighty Fall project, one of our personal favorites here at Whiskey Riff.

Let’s head into the studio for a performance of the fan favorite, “Jesse.”
