Dolly Parton is not interested in becoming a hologram.
According to U.K. publication The Independent, during a London press conference recently, Dolly says she’s not interested in any sort hologram version of herself ever being used for a show or anything else one day.
She said the reason is plain and simple; she doesn’t want to “leave my soul here on this earth”:
“I think I’ve left a great body of work behind. I have to decide how much of that high-tech stuff I want to be involved with because I don’t want to leave my soul here on this earth.

I can’t say that I blame her for that…
She added that there will be plenty of other ways to remember her when she’s gone one day (hopefully a very, very long time from now), and I tend to agree that all the archived videos, photos, CD’s and other projects she’s worked on more than document the Queen of Country’s incredible legacy:
“I think with some of this stuff I’ll be grounded here for ever… I’ll be around, we’ll find ways to keep me here.”
She also joked that “everything” about her, including “any intelligence” was artificial anyway… I mean, if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. I just want to be Dolly Parton when I grow up.
And while it would probably be cool to watch a Dolly Parton concert with an AI hologram one day and feel like you’re watching her live in person in 1980, her reasoning for not wanting to do so is deeply personal and rooted in her strong Christian faith, which makes me respect her all the more.
Dolly also talked with the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential while across the pond, revealing why her friend and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger won’t be featured on her forthcoming Rockstar album tracklist.
She noted that he wanted to do something “new and different,” implying that she wanted to sing a more classic Rolling Stones tune and he wanted to either sing a totally new song, or rearrange an oldie.
She added that her husband, Carl Dean, loves Mick, so it would’ve been really special to get him on this record, and they tried to find the right song and time to record it, but it just didn’t work out:
“I wanted Mick Jagger so bad, because my husband loves him, and I wanted him to sing on ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ but he wanted something new and different, which I don’t blame him for.
We kept looking for the right song. He was doing an album in LA, and I was doing stuff in Nashville, and I kept missing him, but he wanted to do it.”
So far, Dolly’s released three singles from Rockstar, “World On Fire,” “Magic Man (Carl Version) ft. Ann Wilson” and “Bygones ft. Rob Halford with special guests Nikki Sixx & John 5,” and the full album will be out everywhere on November 17th.
