Nothing will bring a smile to your face like this video of Toby Keith jamming out to his own song with the windows down in his Uber.
First off, it’s great to see that Toby is doing better since his health has been of concern ever since he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last June. Things had been pretty quiet for Keith after he canceled the remainder of his 2022 shows, but it seems like the Big Dog Daddy is getting back to his normal self now, which is absolutely a great thing to see.
Though he has been getting back out there and playing concerts, Toby has been transparent about how his vocal endurance is limited for the time being.
He told The Oklahoman recently:
“I’ve got more wind. And I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours.
All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work.”
Hell yes.
And he did get back on the stage right before the July 4th holiday, playing for almost two and half hours and being the typical, America-loving Toby Keith that we’ve all come to know and love.
During the performance, he even yelled out to the crowd:
“Never apologize for being patriotic. F**k em.”
All of that patriotism must have carried over to this video of Toby Keith doing his version of Carpool Karaoke. Thanks to this video, we now all know that his go-to karaoke song is one of his own: “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.”
Keith posted the clip to his Twitter account, with him singing every lyric of his hit 2002 tune and loving every second of it. When the video picks up, Toby is towards the finale of the song, singing:
“Cause we’ll put a boot in your assIt’s the American way
Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his listAnd the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist…”
And damn, Toby has still got it.
Great to hear the power back in his voice, and awesome to see those riding in the car with him (even the Uber driver) giving him a round of applause as he finishes up.
