MALIBU — A man who was killed when his car went off Malibu Canyon Road and plunged over a cliff was identified Tuesday by the coroner’s office.

The crash was reported at 12:20 a.m. Monday, about a mile north of Pacific Coast Highway, said Lt. Adam Zeko of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

Luis Gonzalez, 25, of Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The car was northbound when it rolled over, struck a utility pole and went over the embankment, Zeko said.

An investigation was underway to determine what led to the crash.
