Ella Langley Is Ready To “Paint The Town Blue” And Feel Every Bit Of Her Heartbreak In New Single

Music

Paintin’ the town blue.

Ella Langley released her first single since putting out her solid debut EP Excuse The Mess in September, a song called “Paint the Town Blue,” which was co-written by Ella along with Will Bundy, Rhett Akins and Travis Wood.

A play on words with the old saying “paint the town red,” Ella admits that in the wake of a bad breakup, she simply can’t bring herself to go out and have a good time, opting to let herself be sad and “drink nothin’ but some straight up bourbon” instead.

Hey, whatever works sometimes, ya know…

The Hope Hull, Alabama native says it’s a song about heartbreak and letting yourself cope in whatever way you want… sometimes, you can’t “fake it til you make it,” so to speak, and that’s okay:

“’Paint The Town Blue’ is a song about heartbreak and giving yourself that one night to let all the emotions out.

Everyone copes with a relationship loss differently and when Will Bundy, Rhett Akins, Travis Wood, and I went into the songwriting room that day we wanted to say it’s okay to let it all out.

To quit the fake it till you make it mentality and feel the emotions to move on from that person.”

Ella’s previous EP was a great taste of what’s to come from the up-and-coming artist in terms of her range and style, which featured honky tonk heaters, to several slowed down, almost acoustic heartbreak ballads, to a few rock and roll bangers, and even a great duet with Texas rocker Koe Wetzel on “That’s Why We Fight.”

She is currently out on the road with Jon Pardi for his Mr. Saturday Night tour, and will join Riley green next year on his headlining Ain’t My Last Rodeo tour next year.

I’m hoping we might get a full-length debut record or even a few more singles from Ella in 2024, and this one is certainly another strong addition to her catalog.
