Kacey Musgraves Seemingly Teases New Album With Nude Photo On Social Media

That’s one way to announce a new album…

Fans have been anxiously awaiting word from Kacey Musgraves on her next album, which is anticipated to drop at some point this year.

According to a recent article in Variety, the next album may mark a shift back towards Kacey’s country roots in the same vein as her major-label debut album Same Trailer, Different Park.

“Musgraves affiliated herself with Interscope as well as Universal Music Nashville on ‘Star-Crossed,’ but if you think being hooked up with a pop label means she’s moving toward strictly a pop play, we’ve heard the forthcoming album is something that is still very much for her longtime country base.

Waiting to find out what she’s bringing us with this one definitely counts as a slow burn.”

And while she hasn’t officially announced the new project yet, Kacey just sent fans into a frenzy with a social media post.

In what appears to be the album cover or some sort of announcement, the singer poses nude while laying in a field – and fans are going wild not only over the picture, but over the album that they’re expecting to be announced soon.

Whatever Kacey’s cooking up, I guess we’ll be hearing about it soon enough.

But in the meantime…

Putting Her Own Spin On A Bob Marley Classic

Kacey recently released her reimagined rendition of Bob Marley’s iconic “Three Little Birds” as part of the Bob Marley: One Love EP, which accompanies the major motion picture that’s slated to premiere in theaters on February 14th.

The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the iconic reggae musician and Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita, and:

“Celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through [Marley’s] message of love and unity.

On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.”

In partnership with the Marley family, which had a hand in picking and approving all selections for the tracklist, the full EP will be released the day of the movie premiere on February 14th.

It will also feature covers from Daniel Caesar, Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Jessie Reyez, Bloody Civilian, and Skip Marley, grandson of Bob Marley.

Of course, “Three Little Birds” is an instantly recognizable classic from Marley’s extensive and impressive catalog, and was the fourth track on side two of Bob Marley and the Wailers 1977 Exodus album.

It was later released as a single in 1980, and has since been certified Platinum in several different countries, including 2× Platinum in the UK.

Kacey has put out several spectacular covers in the past, like her collab with Brooks & Dunn on “Neon Moon” and more recent “Can’t Help Falling In Love” for the Elvis biopic in 2022.

I had a feeling this would be no different, and while it’s a definitely a slower, more psychedelic sounding version compared to the original, I think Kacey’s vocals sound incredible and she did a perfect job with this… seriously, it sounds like it would’ve fit in perfectly on her Grammy-winning Golden Hour record.

Covering a music icon like Bob Marley is no easy task, and while the original will always be it’s own thing that no one will ever be able to create, Kacey really impressed me with this.

Kacey Recently Went Platinum With Zach Bryan Duet

Certified Platinum (and a certified heater, obviously).

Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ duet “I Remember Everything” was officially certified Platinum by the RIAA recently, meaning it has moved over one million units since it was released in August.

That’s pretty damn fast, to say the least, as it was just certified Gold in November.

Clearly, people are loving it and spinning it like crazy, and it’s still the easy standout from Zach’s self-titled record in my very humble opinion:

The song has already peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 all-genre chart, a first for both artists, and has also been sent to country radio as a single where it’s currently steadily climbing the charts.

In addition, it’s nominated for TWO 2024 Grammy Awards in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song categories, and it will be a cryin’ shame if we don’t at least get a performance of it from these two together live during the show.

Zach took to X (Twitter) to thank fans for listening:

“Hey guys. ‘I Remember Everything’ went Platinum today, thank you times a million and I love y’all so much.”

The heartbreaking tune was written by Zach and Kacey, and finds the narrators reminiscing on a past relationship and admitting that they remember every little moment and fleeting evening they spent together.

There’s something so forlorn and magical, yet heartbreaking about it, and I simply cannot get enough still.

Kacey’s pure and beautiful voice contrasts so beautifully with Zach’s more gruff, raw vocals, and this is by far and away one of my favorite singles released in the past year.
