People Are Wondering Why Miley Cyrus Thanked Everybody But Her Dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, After Winning A Grammy

Music

Did he break her achy breaky heart? (Ok I’m sorry, I promise that’s the only one).

Miley Cyrus is, of course, the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus. The father-daughter duo had (have?) a close relationship, working together early to launch Miley’s career with Hannah Montana, and even recording a duet together as her music career began to take off.

But Billy Ray and Tish divorced last year, and Miley’s dad has since remarried Australian singer Firerose, who is nearly 30 years younger than 62-year old Billy Ray and just a couple of years older than 31-year old Miley.

So did her parents’ divorce and her dad’s subsequent marriage put a strain on the relationship between Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus?

That’s what many online are wondering after Billy Ray was, seemingly, the only person Miley didn’t thank after taking home two Grammy awards during this year’s ceremonies.

At one point in her acceptance speech for Record of the Year for her song “Flowers,” Miley even said:

“I don’t think I forgot anyone…but I might’ve forgotten underwear. Bye!”

Then in a follow-up post after the ceremony, Miley took to Instagram to once again thank her mother Tish, her sister Brandi, her godmother Dolly Parton…but once again, there was no mention of her famous father.

So what’s going on? Well that’s what everybody online wanted to know:

Of course most of the speculation centered around Billy Ray’s (much) younger new bride, as well as allegations of infidelity.

But there have also been reports that Miley may be on the outs with Billy Ray and some of her siblings because Miley attended her mother’s wedding when she married actor Dominic Purcell last year.

Of course their family issues (if there are any) aren’t really anybody’s business. But you know how the internet is…and Miley sent social media into overdrive with the perceived shade to her famous father.
