Talk about an upgrade.
FGL House in downtown Nashville, the bar opened by Florida Georgia Line back in 2017, closed unexpectedly last weekend. The bar, located on Third Avenue just off Broadway, was opened by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley along with TC Restaurant group, which runs several other artist bars in downtown Nashville, including Jason Aldean’s Kitchen & Rooftop Bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge, Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, and Morgan Wallen’s upcoming bar, Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen.
And look, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of the bar. I never really spent any significant amount of time there, but in the 10 minutes I spent walking through the place (for research purposes), it was pretty clear that it wasn’t somewhere that I wasn’t going to hang out.
But it was a popular nightclub for bachelorette parties and dudes who look like they rail lines in the bathroom, and it seemed like it was still pretty popular, so the closing came as a little bit of a surprise – although not entirely, considering the duo decided to go their separate ways back in 2022 and don’t seem to have any interest in reuniting any time soon.
Of course the closure could have to do with some internal drama between the now-former band members over the use of the name, or TC Restaurant Group could have just decided to go a different direction now that the bar’s namesake is no longer a thing.
When it was announced that Florida Georgia Line was breaking up I always wondered who would get custody of the bar, and now it seems like we have our answer: Lainey Wilson.
According to a report from the Nashville Business Journal, the country superstar and Queen of Bell Bottom Country is reportedly planning on opening up her own bar in the now-unoccupied space.
The report says that “multiple sources” confirm Lainey’s involvement with the new bar, although nothing official has been announced yet for the spot located at 120 Third Ave. S.
The move would also make Lainey just the second female artist to have their own bar in downtown Nashville, after Miranda Lambert became the first with her venue, Casa Rosa.
It’s also not clear whether TC Restaurant Group will continue to be involved in the new space or whether the property will change hands to make way for the new bar. But either way, going from Florida Georgia Line to Lainey Wilson is quite the upgrade.
