I Could Listen To Chris Stapleton & John Mayer Singing “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room” All Damn Day

Music

Just give me a glass of bourbon and put this one on repeat.

Back in 2019, John Mayer surprised the crowd during his show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with an appearance from Chris Stapleton to perform a brand new song that they had written together just for the show.

“I texted this friend and I said, ‘Well, do you wanna do one of your songs or do one of my songs?’ and he said, ‘We could do either or we could just write a song and then go play it when you get into town.’ I said, ‘Challenge accepted.’”

Turns out that they had just written the song, “I Just Remembered That I Didn’t Care,” the day before the show. And of course it was as amazing as you would expect.

But in addition to the new song, Stapleton also stuck around to join Mayer for a performance of “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room.”

And it was as good as it gets.

Between Mayer’s silky smooth vocals matched with the gritty power in Stapleton’s voice, and both of them absolutely shredding on their guitars, the 6-minute performance wasn’t near long enough.

I could listen to this one all damn day.
