Armed man killed in police shooting in Reseda – NBC Los Angeles

California

A deadly shooting with police in Reseda left one man dead early Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded to the call of an assault with a deadly weapon just after midnight.

When they arrived, officers said the armed man fired at least one round at them.

Officers requested help and set up a perimeter in the area, LAPD said. With the help of air support, the armed man was located and a confrontation and shooting ensued.

“We have to review body worn video to determine when and if that suspect fired at officers. But for right now we know that the officers were directed to the suspect, an encounter occurred. And that’s when the officer involved shooting occurred,” Sgt. Bruce Borihahn with the LAPD, said.

The armed man was confirmed dead outside of a 7-Eleven by the Los Angeles Fire Department, LAPD said.

Officers are also investigating a nearby apartment building because they believe it is possible the armed man fired at the building.

The surrounding area has been closed off due to the investigation near Sherman Way and Wilbur Avenue.

No officers were injured in the incident.
