REVIEW: SCARECROW — “TWISTED” Featuring Dee Snider & Mark Wood of Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Music

Some songs feel like a reunion. Others feel like a reckoning. Scarecrow’s new single “Twisted” manages to be both — and it absolutely delivers.

Founded in 1989 by writer, producer, and lead vocalist John Blaze, Scarecrow has long been known for their powerful performances and a dramatic stage presence that blends raw rock energy with a darker, cinematic storytelling style.  With “Twisted,” Blaze doesn’t just revisit that legacy — he detonates it.

Inspired by Blaze’s long-standing friendship with Dee Snider and the legacy of Twisted Sister, the song delivers a modern, radio-ready rock sound while staying true to the band’s heavy roots.  From the opening riff, “Twisted” commands the room. It’s the kind of track that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go.

Dee Snider’s guest vocals arrive during the climactic second verse and chorus , and when they do, the track shifts into another stratosphere entirely. Best known as the former lead singer and songwriter of Twisted Sister — whose anthems became the rallying cry of a generation  — Snider sounds as ferocious and commanding as ever. His voice cuts through the mix like a lightning bolt, reminding anyone who may have forgotten exactly why he became a rock icon in the first place.

But the surprise weapon on “Twisted” is Mark Wood of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, whose violin work weaves through the track  in ways that are nothing short of spectacular. Wood doesn’t just cameo — he elevates. His strings add a sweeping, almost orchestral dimension to the song that gives “Twisted” a grandeur you don’t often hear in hard rock. It’s cinematic, ferocious, and deeply unexpected in the best possible way.

Lead guitar by TJ Jordan and drums by Bobby Marks round out a tight, thunderous production that keeps the energy locked in from start to finish.

“Twisted” is a love letter to classic hard rock wrapped in a modern production that demands to be heard loud. Scarecrow have crafted a track worthy of the legends who appear on it — and one that announces, without any ambiguity, that they are very much back and playing for keeps.

Rating: 9/10 — A hard-hitting, star-studded hard rock triumph.
