Federal investigators served search warrants at multiple locations, including Lancaster City Hall, law enforcement sources told NBC4 Investigates on Wednesday.
It was not immediately clear what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking for or what its investigation entails.
NBCLA briefly spoke with Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris on Wednesday who said “an investigation” has been going on for three years.
“The city-hired lawyers are going through everything and got clean bill of health. I have spoken about this investigation in city council meetings in the past,” Parris said.
The mayor said they’re “investigating everything, including a bike giveaway every Christmas.”
Parris said he didn’t know what, exactly, sparked Wednesday’s investigations.
