Many of us might be feeling Moon Joy and a renewed appreciation for space ventures in the wake of the Artemis II mission, but filmmaker Kitty Green has an altogether more tense type of orbital story ready to tell.
Vanessa Kirby (‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’) and Lewis Pullman (‘Thunderbolts*’) are aboard new thriller, the sci-fi flavored ‘The Spacesuit’.
HanWay Films is backing the latest effort from ‘The Royal Hotel’s writer/director, with the package up for sale to distributors at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

In keeping with Green’s focus on gender roles and the pressures that women face, the new movie will find Kirby’s astronaut forced to make an impossible decision after an incident with her co-pilot (Pullman) leaves an indelible stain on the mission in the days leading up to lift-off, triggering a race against the clock.
‘The Spacesuit’: the backers talk
Here’s the statement from HanWay Films CEO Gabrielle Stewart:
“We are thrilled to be working with Kitty Green again , whose genius is to take on utterly relatable situations women face, give them true cinematic canvases and imbue them with unbearable tension to provoke bigger conversations and entertain. We cannot wait to be taken on this journey by Kitty with Vanessa Kirby and Lewis Pullman, and the excellent team she has gathered.”
