Hansen Dam Park in San Fernando Valley evacuated due to bear – NBC Los Angeles

A large bear caused police to evacuate Hansen Dam Park in the San Fernando Valley on Sunday evening, officials said.

The animal was seen in at least three trees in the recreation area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The park area was closed following the sightings. It was unclear when it would reopen to the public.

No injuries have been reported, police said.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is responding, the LAPD said.
