A shelter-in-place alert was issued in a Pasadena neighborhood Friday after a mountain lion was spotted near an apartment complex, city officials said.
A passerby called police at around 11 a.m. after seeing what appears to be an adult mountain lion in the populated area on Euclid Avenue, north of Del Mar Boulevard.
As officials from the Department Fish and Wildfire reported to the neighborhood, the cougar stayed at the same location, officials said.
But because the mountain lion sighting occurred in the area with a lot of foot and car traffic, neighbors and business owners were told to shelter in place. Some were ordered to evacuate until the animal is caught.
Another point of concern is that there’s a school, which is holding a graduation ceremony Friday, nearby.
This is a developing story.
