
A 10-year-old boy was killed when a CAL FIRE truck responding to a vegetation fire collided with a vehicle in the Hemet Valley area, authorities said.
Authorities said the fire engine was responding to a vegetation fire burning in the San Bernardino National Forest east of Highway 74 when the collision occurred, according to CAL FIRE.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed the fatality of a 10-year-old boy.
Two other people and three firefighters were taken to local hospitals. Their injuries ranged from minor to major, officials said.
Details on what led to the crash were not immediately available. The accident is under investigation.
