Folk musician Linda Perhacs, 82, is missing, and her former manager and other loved ones just issued an urgent plea.

On Monday, July 27, Laurel Stearns, Perhacs’ former manager, took to Instagram with a joint message with three others.

“Linda Perhacs, our dear friend and legendary singer-songwriter, was discharged from a residential care facility approximately eight months ago under the supervision of her legal guardian,” they explained. “Since then, friends and longtime collaborators have been unable to reach her and repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered. Please help us locate Linda to ensure her well-being.”

Additionally, Stearns asked that anyone with “verified information” about Perhac’s “whereabouts or current means of contact” reach out to her via email at: [email protected].

In the late ’60s, composer Leonard Rosenman discovered Perhacs when she was working as a dental hygienist in Los Angeles. He heard her humming music she had composed and advocated to get her signed with Kapp Records. Perhacs released Parallelograms in 1970, followed by two more albums, The Soul of All Natural Things in 2014 and I’m a Harmony in 2017.

In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, Stearns explained that “numerous friends and longtime collaborators report they have been unable to establish direct contact with her. Repeated attempts to communicate with her guardian have also, they say, gone unanswered.”

The former manager clarified that, “those issuing this statement are not alleging wrongdoing. Rather, they are seeking confirmation that Linda is safe, well, and receiving appropriate care, while expressing concern over the prolonged absence of communication with a beloved public figure.”

Stearns concluded, “The most important thing is that she’s safe and comfortable.”
