San Bernardino County detective shot on the job – NBC Los Angeles

An on-duty detective was shot Wednesday during an investigation in Palmdale, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSO) said.

The shooting was reported sometime around 3:15 p.m. while an SBSO detective was conducting a search warrant near the intersection of East Avenue R and 130th Street. There, shots were fired and the detective was struck.

The detective, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital via airlift to Antelope Valley Hospital. The severity of their injuries was not clear.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed two people were hospitalized. It did not elaborate on the second person who was hospitalized.

It added that the person accused of shooting the detective died at the scene. Further details on that individual, such as their name and nature of death, were not released.

The investigation is ongoing.
