Ella Langley Reveals Her Favorite Eric Church Song, And It Might Surprise You

A great choice.

As we sit in 2026, there’s simply no denying that Ella Langley is the hottest star in country music. Launching off the success of her Riley Green collaboration, “you look like you love me” throughout 2024 and 2025, the Alabama native has become nothing short of a phenomenon thanks to the megahit that is “Choosin’ Texas” and, in turn, has captured the hearts of nearly everyone over the past year.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with “Choosin’ Texas’” success, it just spent its 17th week at #1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. As it stands today, “Choosin’ Texas” is the longest-running #1 hit by a female artist THIS CENTURY, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts simultaneously and the fourth-longest-running chart-topper in the Hot 100’s 68-year history.

If that wasn’t enough, thanks to the success of her sophomore album, Dandelion, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and sold 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week, Langley became just the second woman in history to hold the #1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country song/album.

Beyond the success of “Choosin’ Texas” this year, Langley has been killing it on the road as well. Throughout the spring and summer, she’s been splitting time between Morgan Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour, which just wrapped up a few weeks ago, and her own headlining tour, Dandelion, which has been selling out arenas and amphitheaters across North America.

Before that, she was out on the road this winter with none other than the Chief himself, Eric Church, opening up for him a half-dozen times in the likes of Toronto, St. Paul, Albany and Buffalo, where they teamed up for a killer cover of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind ” back in February.

Unsurprisingly, Church would end up taking a liking to Langley, giving her some stellar career advice, ranging from how to center yourself during your rise to fame to keeping an emphasis on evolving your sound from album to album. In fact, the “Hands of Time” singer would say he enjoyed being the “old guy” in the room and sharing some of his experience when he went through similar career growth with Langley:

“It was kind of fun to be the old guy in the room, as we started talking about advice and where she’s going and stuff. I’ve been there, and it was fun to just hang out with her. She’s great.”

Like many of us, the “Dandelion” singer has been a fan of Church for years. Years before she got famous, she’d post a cover of his 8x platinum megahit, “Springsteen,” and follow that up a few years ago with an acoustic cover of his 2011 Chief deep cut, “Over When It’s Over.”

Over the weekend, while getting ready for her Corpus Christi show during a livestream, she finally revealed her favorite song from Church’s legendary discography: “Over When It’s Over.” Langley would follow that up by saying that “Springsteen” is another one of her favorite tracks, noting how nostalgic it is for her.

“I love ‘Springsteen.’ That song is so nostalgic for me.”

If you know Church’s discography, it’s pretty safe to say he has some of the best deep cuts in the game, with stellar tracks like “Knives of New Orleans” and “Where She Told Me To Go.” I’ve always ranked “Over When It’s Over” among some of his best, especially when it comes to non-singles, and it’s clear the “Be Her” singer shares the same sentiment.
